Update: I only observe parts of this bug now.

Different: If I make system sound changes like turning down the volume or connecting to a bluetooth headset, those changes correctly effect Airmail notifcation sounds.

Same: If I turn on OS X's Do Not Disturb, when I receive a message it still makes the sound. (Correctly, the growl-like notification popup doesn't show.) The correct behavior would be to make no sound. I have no way of differentiating whether the sounds is made by the Airmail app itself or how Airmail registers with Notifications the service.

This sound doesn't obey my sound preferences in System Preferences. E.g., if I lower my volume, it doesn't lower, and if I use a bluetooth headset, it still comes out of my Mac's internal speakers.

I'm not a fan of this. You're basically asking them to double the scope of their application by including a calendar app within an email app. If Airmail followed through with this, it would suck up all of their development time and none of the other tickets would get done. If their going to get in the calendar business, they might as well start a second app.
