How can we improve Airmail?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

  1. Show only Unread or Count, or Both

    I don't like having the status or dock icon showing both all the time. I simply want it to show when there is a new message or unread ones.

  2. No Auto Capitalisation after Colon

    No Auto Capitalisation after Colon

    Many other Windows based applications eg Outlook already do this yet it has been an issue with Mac Mail for many years.
    It seems to me that in the overwhelming majority of cases one would want the first letter of a new sentence to be a capital. Is there no preference to achieve this? If not is there an AddOn that will?
    It would be a great new feature if possible for future updates/versions.

  3. Rules options - ignore Lettercase (uppercase & lowercase)

    Hi,
    it would be great to add the option of ignoring Lettercase (uppercase & lowercase) to rules. I often have to create a different sets of rules to override this problem.

  4. Using the mouse to mark a selection in the Search Window moves the entire application window

    This is non-standard behaviour in OS X. Please amend so that a part of the text in the Search Window can be marked using the mouse. Currently this just moves the entire application window.

  5. Add "common replies."

    Some of us get emails to which we have stock answers. Basically allow us to create those common replies once, then have a shortcut to attach them. Could even be part of Quick Reply (e.g. Show Next Quick Reply). That would also allow us to add to the common reply.

  6. improve translations

    The Dutch internationalizations leave a few things to be desired:

    When closing an email without sending it, I get a dialog box asking me if I want to save the email as a concept. The Options are:
    Annuleren (cancel)
    Annuleren (cancel)
    Opslaan (save)

    When answering an email and quoting a passage, Airmail prefixes this with:
    "Op 5 januari 2015 bij 12:21:48, Elise van Looij (xxxxxx@mac.com) schreef: "
    That's not good syntax in Dutch: in a sentence starting with a preposition, the subject-verb order gets reversed:
    "Op <datum> schreef Elise van Looij :"
    Or better:
    "Elise van Looij schreef…

  7. Notifications of mail without the app fully running. So it saves RAM. Also Smart folders.

  8. Operations locking up Airmail 2.0

    Airmail 2.0 is frequently locking up due to unfinished operations. Sometimes, it figures itself out by the next day or so, but sometimes I have to completely uninstall (AppZapper) and reinstall. Very, very painful.

  9. Font colour - light grey - too hard to read for 60 year old eyes

    I can't use the Airmail app because I can't read the text on folders, email, settings - light grey no good for older persons eyes - back to apple Mail

  10. option to choose folder into which to download attachments each time? (as opposed to only one specified folder)

    could you put an extra option in the Attachments location that allows me to specify which folder I want to download the attachments to each time. "ask each time" option.

    I use email to manage different classes and boards, and like to file incoming submissions straight away into the relevant folders.

  12. Don't clear composed contents on email change

    I wrote a long email accidentally under the wrong email. Then I select the dropdown and pick the correct email address to "send as". My long email vanished :( I pick the previous selection hoping it's there at least..No luck. Please leave the message contents in place when I select a different outgoing account. Thanks!

  14. Why do I have to delete a message twice (Inbox and Starred)?

    I have a rule that marks messages in which I am the main recipients as starred.
    When I delete the message from my inbox, it does not delete it from the starred folder...

    Like in Airmail 1, we had a few options to choose from. In Airmail 2 there is only options for the messages list.

  16. Add Archive All Messages in folder to the Folder menu - right click

    When reading the non important folders, it is good to have a way to quickly right click on the folder and "archive all". Now uou have to first select all with CTRl-A, then either press e for archive or click the archive icon. Too many steps.

  17. JPEG Graphics become Corrupted - Fix this

    After a period of time, graphics in JPEG format embedded in message can no longer be viewed and are replaced by a symbol indicating "file cannot be found". As a test I created a draft email with my signature and then kept in the Drafts folder for several weeks.

    I checked it each day and for the first several weeks it was fine. Finally today it appeared and the signature was missing (see attached graphic).

    What is happening and can you fix this? The same problem occurs in all my email messages and involves all images that are embedded in…

  18. More colour options?

    I like 2.0 very much, but wondering two things: 1) Can we change the background colour of incoming messages so that important emails can be seen quickly and B) can we change the colour or font width of the main sidebar? The thin-white does not show up very well against the black background

    The Hit List is an amazing task manager and it would be great if one could create a task in The Hit List inbox just as one can create a task in the Things inbox.

  20. Search all messages: Search bar covers first result

    The search bar (when searching all messages) overlaps the first result in the list, so you can't see the subject and sender.
