How can we improve Airmail?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

  1. mark as read on reply

    Most useful for "nearly-zero" inboxes would be an option to mark messages as read upon replying to them. If I replied to something, apparently I have read it!
    Otherwise it takes extra Cmd-Shift-U to manually mark as read a message that I'd like to keep in my inbox for a while after responding to it (otherwise I just send+archive).

  2. improve contrast on sidebar of airmail 2

    a few friends i have introduced to Airmail 2 have commented how hard it is to easily view details on the dark background of the sidebar as opposed to the clarity and detail easily viewed on airmail 1 and apple mail
    maybe you can add a customisation so a change of colour / contrast could be available

  3. Create a hotkey for the signature in the compose window

    While in the compose screen, it would be great to have a key combination that we can press to turn off or on the signature.

  4. Stop the HTTP gets when importing contacts

    New user and when I setup my account, Airmail imports all my contacts. I've told Airmail not to load images by default. However, when my contacts are being imported, Airmail seems to reach out to the domain name of the contact on port 80 to try to do something. This is pretty annoying. What info is it getting? Is there a way to turn this off?

  5. Tab key to change "From" address

    I would love to be able to change the "From" address in the Compose window without having to use the mouse.

    Sparrow used to work this way. I could Shift-Tab up from the "To" field to the "From" field, and use the keyboard to select a different "From" account.

  7. Tweaks for smaller screens

    I have a 12" MacBook and notice two small issues with the interface I didn't before. First, the minimum width runs off the side of the screen. Would it be possible to decrease the minimum width to accommodate smaller screens better? Second, after certain program interactions (like emptying the spam folder) my Airmail window jumps down on the screen. It does not exhibit that behavior on larger screens. Would it be possible to adjust that as well?

  9. Unread badge sub-button to bring up all unread messages

    It would be great the have all unread messages displayed when you click directly on the red dot.

  10. do not select a message on startup

    when starting the app, the top message in the inbox is selected and automatically opened. please don't do that. i leave unread messages at the top of my inbox so i can act on them when i need to. by opening them when the app starts up, you mark them read and wreck my system.

  11. automate attachment of files

    so that when I type "...CV is attached..." or "...Quote is Attached..." the file I have nominated as the latest CV quote etc (perhaps via Text expander?) is attached.

    Please note CV's, quotes, newsletters etc. may well have multiple distinctive names - so inside our outside Airmail I want to link the current "CV" to the file I want to use that day when I say CV etc

  12. Delete Archive/Trash per Account

    I would love the ability to select whether the delete button archives the message or trashes the message on an individual account basis.

  14. Punctuation gets completely smashed

    I set a composer font, and all punctuation gets completely smashed in the outgoing message. Even a capital F gets rewritten.

    As an example, I've turns into I=E2=80=99ve...

    It would be nice to see the size of a message and be able to sort messages from largest to smallest.

  18. Fast setup to previous recipients list when first switching to Airmail

    One of the biggest pain points that I had when switching to Airmail was that I didn't have access to my "old" previous recipients.

    Here's what I mean. Suppose that two years ago I sent an email to "John Smith", which is still saved in my "Sent" folder. On my old email client, I can type "john" in the To: field of a new email, and it will suggest "John Smith"'s email. But on Airmail, even if I download the whole "Sent" folder, I don't get the suggestion of John Smith for "John".

  19. Redirect feature should override composer type for the account

    Redirect should keep the original e-mail intact.

    When redirecting an email in HTML using the composer type in Plain Text, the email gets converted to plain text.

  20. can't send a message that is pgp signed or encrypted

    Please excuse me if this is not the correct place to report problems. ( and give a pointer to the proper place )

    I am using AirMail 2, Version 2.0.3 (286), and I have three accounts defined. Two of the accounts I have pgp keys created for, but I can not send any message from one of the accounts that is encrypted or just signed via pgp suite tools. The other account works fine in every way, no matter if it is signed, encrypted, or neither. It does not seem to matter what address I am sending the email to.
