"Outbox" or outgoing mailbox before a message is sent
I've had problems a couple of times where an email doesn't successfully get sent. Airmail gives me an error message (in this case, "Cannot send mail error [message subject] Unable to authenticate with the current session's credentials."
Now I can't find the message anywhere, so that I can choose to either copy it into a client that's running correctly (i.e. go into gmail on Safari) OR at least tell Airmail to cancel this message.
A bit concerned that I'm going to write the email in Safari, send it normally, and then whenever my problem is fixed in Airmail, it will get sent again (and I'll have to explain this to the recipient, which in this case is a professional client. What a pain!)
I don't know what can be done about this but having an "outbox" in which I can access, pause, or delete messages before they are sent, might be helpful.

Wtf. Can this really STILL be a problem? I have written the same email three times using three different accounts and there is a problem sending.... in isolation not a problem, but getting notifications of a problem and not being able to get the content of the email is just incredibly annoying and a fair reason to bin airmail - for all its flaws, at least apple mail has a fall back position when there is a fault!

this is pretty crazy, 10s of emails get stuck in the Drafts without being sent

It looks like Airmail uses Drafts as an Outbox. When messages don't sent, they are marked as "waiting" under Drafts. They can get stuck that way with no warning that they didn't send and they won't show up in searches. I only discovered this when I looked at my drafts for a different reason and discovered a bunch of messages that had not sent and that I had never saved as a draft. Details can be found here: http://feedback.airmailapp.com/forums/274948-airmail-mac-3-x/suggestions/14112777-notification-for-failed-sending

It's 2017 and the problem persists. No Outbox, fine with me as long as I can take action when an error occurs, that's totally impossible.
Do something about it! This should have been the power users app (bought both ios and macOS) but it's a pain after weeks of testing. Really really annoying

Uh, really frustrated to have paid for this app and run into something this fundamental. Additionally, it looks like Airmail staff don't read or take into account the feedback here.

Have had many problems whilst sending emails with intermittent connectivity (generally on train) where I send an email but it never sends, isn’t in sent items or draft, just disappeared. This is REALLY poor as sending emails is like feature number two for an email client, after receiving emails!
Fix this soon please.

I'm still having this issue. No drafts, nothing....just a notification...

Indeed, highly annoying. We need an outbox.

Do we have anything on this as yet?

Need Outbox

Me too. I don't get an error, just the message at the bottom of the screen that the app is trying to send something. Removing and reinstalling the app at least gets those other messages sent. But one is stuck, and I can't find it anywhere and can't remove it.

Nine months and no response from Airmail eh?
That's a shame, I quite liked the application. Back to skanky Apple Mail then.
I just sent this to the so-called 'chat' - which might get answered by email. sometime:
Hundreds of alerts about a single email stuck in the 'outbox'. Except that I cannot access any outbox. Do I have to uninstall Airmail? -

Need. Outbox.

Same here. I completely need this feature! I need to see my replies to know whether or not they have sent. I'm also going to switch to another email client until this exists.

also, why the 30 seconds delay if you cannot acces the OUTBOX to hold or change the message while it's waiting?
please add the outbox. -

Quite shocked that Airmail doesn't have an outbox queue! Lack of such an essential and standard feature for a MUA is a significant oversight! This is a serious deal breaker for me: I cannot afford to lose emails forever under any circumstance.
Back to Apple Mail until this is implemented.
