Disable automatic download attachments for spam folder
I did a virus scan of my machine, turns out it has 15 (windows) trojans. tracked it back to downloaded attachments from my spam filter in airmail. Granted it just a series of bits on the hard drive unless it is viewed or open, and these can't affect my machine, I would really rather not have a means for even inert and incompatible trojans to be downloaded onto my machine.

Since installing this app I get loads of spam emails! This is a gmail account and I never got this with mailplain!

No updates about this in over a year? I wasn't aware such debilitating issues was on-going with Airmail until I got multiple notices when scanning. I had 20+ SPAM folder-related malware on my machine.
No action about this? Sorry but I see no other options than REMOVE the app.

Got my first virus for Mac woo destroyed my work. Airmail was downloading all attachments on my folders. Some spam does leak though with Viruses.

This idea was accepted over a year ago - any update on dealing with this? I have loaded virus detection software to find that Airmail has been downloading attachments from the spam filter including trojans and infected files. I will have to delete Airmail unless I can find a setting that allows this control.

I've just had to delete Airmail as, for the first time ever, I had a virus on my Mac which caused Airmail to email out spam. I downloaded an AV programme, which showed up 200 odd infected files, many in the program library.
So, +1 for no downloaded attachments for emails which have been marked as spam. Why would you want to?

Yeah, this is really annoying. My AV is going crazy because I have attachments in my spam folder. Please enable download for everything EXCEPT junk / spam.

Adding my vote to this feature. Please make it an option to download all attachments _except_ emails within the Gmail/Spam folder.
I agree with James here, while almost all of the viruses found are for Windows and will not impact my machine I would prefer that these viruses are _never_ downloaded automatically by AirMail. Gmail has a 100% perfect record in catching these emails with their attachments, and I trust it enough that I do not wish for the Spam email attachments to be automatically downloaded to my computer.
On a daily basis I have to review all of these attachments that Avira catches and delete them. I would prefer to not have to do that at all since Gmail is already handling them.
Thanks.

I find this also to be a problem. The suggestion provided by Mario below would solve the problem, but I find it overkill, because I want to download attachments for my email that is not in the spam folder.
Ideally, I would like the ability to configure Airmail to download all attachments EXCEPT for the email that has been identified as spam (e.g., maps to [Gmail/Spam] as identified in the Airmail settings). Is there any way to actually do this? If not, I suggest Airmail provide the ability to selectively enable the downloading of content/attachments.
Thanks,

Uncheck this:
Preferences > [Account] Settings > More > Download > Attachments.
