How can we improve Airmail?

Enable the use of a Proxy

It would be great to be able to set a (SOCKS) proxy setting within the application* for talking to Gmail/IMAP servers as my work firewall blocks talking to Gmail's IMAP servers from within their network, this would mean I can use Airmail at work (that would be great). ^_^

  • I can't set a global proxy within the OS X settings as this would mean all of my network traffic going via that proxy and none of my work systems functioning.

    Same here.
    My company network needs a exchange from ...local.lan,
    but i want to connect gmail as well.

    This should have been enabled by default. most regular apps support SOCKS proxy. Please add this.

    or switching to a iOS mail client that simply works like cloudmagic or the stock mail client.
    I like airmail more than cloudmagic, however airmail does indeed not work with gmail behind our company firewall while cloudmagic does.
    Why would airmail not be able to change their connections just like cloudmagic does?

    Airmail Version 3.0 (367) STILL doesn't support SOCKS proxy to bypass corporate firewall IMAP connections. Seriously???

    Any sort of proxy support would be greatly appreciated.
    I absolutely love the app, and use it on iOS also. But it doesn't honour the proxy settings in system prefs so I can't use this app when working on site for clients behind a proxy.

    Yes please add support for SOCKS proxy because setting it in the system preferences doesn't work.

    It's very necessary to support proxy(HTTP/SOCKS5), not just for Chinese users.

    need this too.
    all google services are blocked here in china mainland. thus i can't use gmail with airmail, unless there is an option for enable using of proxy.

    I too want this to be added to airmail.. it would be a huge help but for everyone in the mean time.. you can use http://www.tidalpool.ca/macproxy/ to setup a system wide proxy to push data over ssh or other socks proxy.

    Does actually any one really doing any work on this or are just talking to ourselves? I can't use Airmail because of proxy and I don't think anyone in my situation will use your app so you won't last in this market too long...
