Prevent Airmail from opening attachments in 'read only' view. I want control over how I open attachments.

Me too. This auto read-only for attachments is a time-waster. Not only do attachments only download if you click on them and then have to wait for them to do so, once they down-load they are read-only. You should give us control over this rather than assuming we can't handle our own security
