  1. Do not autocapitalize first line of body for German language

In the composer the first line below the salutation (e.g. "Dear Sir or Madam," or "Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren," in German) the first line of the body gets autocapitalized, which is wrong according to German grammar rules (unless the first word is a noun or some special pronoun (i.e. "Sie" for the English "you" directed at a respected person)

  2. Auto-select 'from' when composing a new email

There is a feature in Mac Mail that I found extremely useful.

When composing an email, Mac Mail was able to determine which account I was meant to be sending from based on who I am sending to.

    For example:

Lets say we have 2 email accounts, account 1, 2 and 3

When I email customer 1, I always use account 2.
When I email customer 2 I always use account 1.

Mac Mail learns this pattern and auto swaps to the correct account when I add the recpient to the email.

In my case I use at least 8…

  3. Alias Problem

So the problem I am having is everytime I input a Alias in Airmail 2.0 and save it, when I try and use it or go back into settings its not there. I have tried multiple times to get it to work but everytime it fails. I have tried this on multiple computers and it wont work. Airmail IOS came out today and finally was able to add it and it synced over to my mac. Please let me know what i need to do to make it work on my mac. Thanks

  4. Please add a way to remove signature icon

I have a few issues with the signature selection icon/button

    • Personally I set my signature once and don't change it afterwards (actually I don't use a signature at all)

    • The icon reminds me of those old-school creepy masks (see attachment)

    • It just clutters an otherwise very clean minimalistic interface for the people that do not use this feature

    Thanks!

  5. New Email from menu bar

I'd like to be able to compose a new email from the menu bar instead of having to bring Airmail into focus first. Better yet, I'd love to have the menubar icon available even after I quit the Airmail app.

With this, I would be able to create and send an email without being distracted by the emails that might have come in since I last checked.

Bonus if I could create a global mac keyboard shortcut to send an email right when I'm thinking about it without having to launch the app in all it's glory

  6. New mails to be sent from receiving mailbox by default when clicking "mailto:" links in emails

I have several mailbox's; one personal and several for business. When I receive an email which contains "mailto:" links it would be good if clicking on a link opened a new composer window using the same mailbox as received the original message, by default. Apple Mail does this. Currently, a new message is created using the primary account which means I have to remember to change this every time to avoid business contacts receiving my personal email address.

  7. Do not change quotation marks when composing an email

    Steps to replicate

    1/ Open new email
2/ Enter to straight quotation marks ""
    3/ Press Enter
4/ Quotation marks get changed into bended quotation marks “”

Can we have a setting to turn this off if it does not exist? It breaks sending HTML code or any other code with straight quotation marks

  8. text/plain multipart does not use quoting characters

When using Rich Text or Markdown composer, replying to a message will quote the original, but only in the HTML version. The text/plain portion of the message, when viewed by text clients such as Mutt, contain no quoting characters that were not present in the original message replied to. The top level of the quoted message is just mashed together with the text of the new message.

  9. "New message" in contextual menu uses wrong sender email

(I consider this a bug report—not sure if this is the place for that)

By clicking on the arrow next to the email in a conversation, I enter a contextual menu that allows me to send a message to that email (or add to contacts, or to VIP etc...) The logical thing to do is to follow the "Global reply" or "Global Send" setting, in my case to use the selected account. However, it always uses my first account.

  10. Colour Code sending account in composer

With multiple accounts to choose from, it would be helpful if the dropdown menu in composer to choose which account to send from included the corresponding account colour. At the moment I have 6 accounts, and have to rely on the small image dots, or read the email text to determine which account I want to send from.

  11. Bug: When "Reply all by default" is enabled, the "Reply" button works as "Reply All"

When "Reply all by default" is enabled, the "Reply" button works as "Reply All", basically making Airmail have 2 "Reply all" buttons in the interface and no way of doing a normal reply.

This is Airmail Version 3.2.1 (397).

  12. Inline images disappear when user changes "from" email

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open e-mail composer.
    2. Drag some image from Finder into the editing area. Inline image will appear.
    3. Open account selection list and choose any item (even selecting the same account should suffice). The inline images will disappear.

  14. Get rid of garbage tags and attributes in HTML content

I'm typically composing emails in a simple, concise way. I don't use color or other fancy stuff.

But when I see people reply to my emails, part of the quoted email from me is always blue. Why? Because Airmail inserts unneeded and erroneous HTML tags/attributes in the outgoing email.

The problem is exacerbated when I'm posting to some helpdesk application, which then tries to convert HTML to some wiki-like markup and that gives a lot of garbage now on the user level.

    Hope this gets addressed.

    Thanks!
    Igor

  15. Fix Default Sender preference - neither "Selected", nor "Ask" options work.

Please fix the Default Sender preference. Neither "Selected Account", nor "Ask" options are currently working. In my Airmail, the account listed first (top) is always used.

  16. Quick reply usability

I was replying to a critical business email with quick reply (UI attached). Note that in the "To:" it reads the name of one single individual.

After clicking Send and Archive, however, I saw that the email was addressed to both Mike and everyone on the CC list.

    This was unexpected, and mortifying.

Whenever I am composing a Quick Reply, I expect that exactly who I see in the recipient list is exactly who receives the email—no more or no less.

  17. Add keyboard shortcuts for Bold and Italic in Markdown composer

Using italic as an example, most Markdown editors will respond to Command-I by

    • If nothing is selected, insert two asterisks and place the cursor between them.
    • If text is selected, bracket it with asterisks and place the cursor after the last one.

    This would be very helpful.

  19. Highlight text option

Please add a highlight text option in the composer setting. This is a pretty basic function many email clients.
